Going to MWC 2016? Read on…

The countdown to Barcelona has begun!  As our team prepares for their trip, we thought it would be great to share our do’s and dont’s for getting the most out of an event, especially MWC.

Before You Go

  • Determine your purpose for attending the conference - Is networking your goal? Review who's exhibiting, who's speaking, who else is attending; reach out to them before the conference and set up a time to meet while there.

  • Get the lay of the land - If a first time attendee stick to booking accommodations through the conference and their hotel partners; download the conference and exhibit hall(s) map - and make a plan of attack; and of course review the agenda and prioritize what you will attend and participate in.

  • What to bring - Bring your business cards and order your thank you notes.  You should be prepared with printed or digital marketing and sales material if you will be meeting with clients or prospects.

  • Plan to arrive early - If possible plan to arrive the day before to ensure a good night's rest.  Check-in early to avoid delays the first day of the conference.  TIP: You can check in at the Barcelona airport on arrival.

  • Print your calendar - don't count on having internet access at all times.

When You Are There

  • Familiarize yourself with the layout, especially if attending a very large event. Allow yourself enough time to travel between meetings and vendor booths. TIP: Walking from the main entrance to Hall 8 take at least 20 minutes.

  • Visit your "must see" exhibitor booths the first day or two, by the end of the conference you'll be spent and the exhibitors are exhausted.

  • Attire, be professional and practical, wear comfortable shoes you will be standing and walking much more than when in the office.

  • Don't multi-task, instead set aside 1-2 hours to focus on high priority items from the office.  When attending conference sessions focus on getting the most out of the conference.

  • Take care of yourself - it will be long days with lots to see and do.  Partake in after hour events sparingly and stay hydrated!
