Dialogue Acquisition – Q&A with CEO Johan Hedberg
Having recently completed the acquisition of UK-based mobile messaging and security services provider Dialogue Group, which has offices in London, Sydney and Singapore, we spend five minutes with CLX’s CEO, Johan Hedberg, to find out what the deal means to the business as a whole and how it will benefit customers moving forward.
Explain the background and rationale behind the decision to acquire Dialogue?
CLX were particularly strong in EMEA and North America, and Dialogue had done a very good job at growing their Tier 1 footprint in APAC. As a scale driven business, we’re continually evaluating how we can exceed the organic growth trajectory we’ve been following in the last two years and leapfrog our competitors by speeding up entry to new markets.
Asia Pacific is a fast growing and important region where we needed to strengthen our existing market presence, the Dialogue acquisition has allowed us to fast-track our entry into the APAC market by adding a number of vital Tier 1 connections to our network. Integrating Dialogue within the growing CLX family also significantly strengthens our customer base in the UK and Australia.
In addition to the above rationale, we are constantly striving to assist mobile operators globally to reduce fraud and spam, the Dialogue Sentinel product was a perfect addition to our existing Signalling Security and Firewall suite of products.
How will the acquisition benefit both new and existing enterprise customers of CLX and Dialogue?
More combined Tier 1 connections for both Dialogue and CLX customers means that our combined customer base will have better, more affordable and higher quality reach to more destinations. Having high quality Tier 1 coverage is becoming increasingly important for US-based multinationals who are seeking to expand into emerging markets and are looking for one provider to offer a global solution for their Enterprise communications needs.
Following the acquisition, CLX’s Tier 1 network of 70 countries will be expanded into the following countries; New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Cambodia, Japan, Philippines, Indonesia and Egypt.
How will the acquisition benefit both new and existing Operator customers of CLX and Dialogue?
We have also added Dialogue’s powerful Sentinel Security Solution to our existing product portfolio. This means that we can now definitively prove to operators globally the level of fraud taking place on their networks, thus allowing them to more easily justify installing our Signalling firewalls if required.
Dialogue is the fourth company CLX has acquired since the IPO in May 2015, how close is the company to achieving its vision of creating the biggest and best cloud-communications company globally?
‘We already believe we are a leader in Cloud Communications and are certainly one of the world’s largest already. The cloud communications market is growing rapidly and there are so many opportunities to innovate and grow the business. We will continue on that journey for many years to come.’
What’s next for CLX?
We will continue to grow and innovate our company whilst ensuring we provide our customers the very best service and support.
