Product Manager, Multi-channel Solutions - CLX Communications

The Product Manager will be responsible for launching new products by assessing the market needs and new industry standards, determining and documenting market requirements, working closely with the technical development team to define the technical requirements, and actively participating in testing and customer interactions as the product is rolled out. The role will include building an understanding of the technical landscape, including: emerging technologies and players, protocols and new technical specifications, competition, value chain, legal and regulatory implications, and overall technology impact in the marketplace.

This is a hands-on role that will include both day-to-day product management responsibilities and participating in strategic planning, and will help develop product positioning, competitive analysis and messaging platforms to guide creative marketing and PR campaigns.

Responsibilities include:

  • Define and prioritize key target segments, understanding market needs and working with customer groups to refine product strategy
  • The Product Manager will collaborate and align with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate customer needs into technical product requirements, and work with engineering to build and deliver world-class products. The Product Manager will be a product champion and should be a team leader with a consistent record of accomplishment for aligning and ensuring end-to-end organization readiness
  • Initiate comprehensive assessments of relevant industry trends and business requirements to help successfully develop product roadmap and launch new products
  • Engage with customers to understand the marketplace and competitor platforms, including technology, market share, advertising, and competitive SWOT analysis
  • Work with internal engineering team/product development team on product build
  • Monitor, analyze and report on customer/decision-maker/end-user feedback and manage success and evolution of tools in the marketplace
  • Provide timely reporting of alpha/beta programs, product launches/extensions, and ongoing sales, revenue and profitability performance against defined business targets
  • Own the process of gathering, documenting, and communicating product requirements
  • Partner effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring knowledge and communication of product roadmaps and optimal prioritization
  • Proactively recommend new products or new product enhancements that align with overall Company strategy and team-specific business opportunities and leverage the Company’s proprietary technology

Skills and experience needed:

  • Knowledge of evolving IP telephony, Internet and cloud business models
  • Strong technical background to communicate and negotiate with engineering
  • Technical Understanding: Agile tools like Jira, and working knowledge of eCommerce Products, API’s, MySQL, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, and mobile web solutions and other relevant development tools and methodologies
  • Experience identifying customer segments through quantitative and qualitative research, and skills in strategic business development
  • Skilled in using PowerPoint/Word/Excel and in writing meaningful/concise communication to peer groups via e-mail

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Marketing or equivalent field. MBA a plus
  • 1-2 years of demonstrated success in fast-paced product-driven organization
  • Proven record of accomplishment of launching successful new products, managing product releases and executing winning launches with a small team
  • Experience with early stage products and new product development from ideation specification
  • Proven ability to successfully collaborate with internal stakeholders from various parts of the organization and drive successful outcomes cross-functionally
  • Experience working closely with engineering organization to define applications and tools and manage them through the entire product life cycle
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel (less than 50%) periodically

Preferred

  • Previous experience within a technical product manager role
  • Experience developing products within a mobile/telecommunications environment
  • Technical Understanding: Agile tools like Jira, and working knowledge of eCommerce Products, API’s, MySQL, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, and mobile web solutions and other relevant development tools and methodologies
  • Thorough understanding of the product development lifecycle
  • High energy/high focus
  • Ability to juggle many competing priorities/deadlines
  • Highly collaborative and with the ability to lead by influence
  • Highly self-motivated, passionate team-oriented individual
